Enchanted Edges is a Skate Ontario sanctioned Bring on the Fun competition happening on the weekend of April 12 - 14, 2024 at Campus Ice Centre.
The Oshawa Skating Club is expecting to be host to 700+ skaters over the weekend, who will be bringing family members to watch. To run a successful competition, we'll need as many helpers as we can get. Donations for fundraising also welcome!

We are seeking a volunteer to help us with marketing and promoting all upcoming programs and events.
Duties:
Work closely with Program Coordinator to help to promote AFIYU programs and events.
Assist with the planning and executing promotional marketing campaigns
Assist with the design and placement of social media ads, traditional media ads (radio),and email blasts.
Reviewing the progress and success of ongoing campaigns.
Making adjustments or proposing new ideas as necessary
Hours and terms of postion to negotiated based on volunteer's availability
Reporting to the Fund Development Team, assist in reaching out to potential donors, sponsors and partners via email and/or phone to support fundraising campaigns.
- research into potential donors, partners and sponsors for financial and/or in-kind donations
- initiate and maintain communication through email and phone
- effectively convey CCD's mission, values adn fundraising goals
- provide information and encourage participation
- provide the FD Team regular updates on outreach activities and progress
- report any feedback, concerns or opportunities for improvement to campaign strategies
Checkpoint volunteers assist at the start line (Seagrave), Robinglade Park, and the finish line (Palmer Park). Checkpoint volunteers record boats as they enter, exit, and pass by the checkpoints. This information is communicated to Museum staff and the safety coordinator to ensure all participants are safe and accounted for. Volunteers also assist in answering questions and directing guests as necessary.
Assist in set-up and take-down of the event including setting out chairs for the award ceremony, taking down chairs and tables in the Latcham Centre, and assisting in setting up stations in Palmer Park (ex. First aid station, BBQ station, finish line). Assist with wayfinding and other duties as required.
Assist on Friday night registration (6:00 pm – 9:00 pm) and Saturday morning registration (7:00 am – 10:00 am). Volunteers will assist in directing participants, answering questions, and general assistance of registration staff.
Support museum programs and activies by assisting with wayfinding, crafts and activities, building interpretation, and setup/take down.
The 2024 Durham MS Walk is taking place Sunday May 26th 11:00am at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park and Pavilion in Whitby!
The MS Walk is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by Multiple Sclerosis as well as those who want to support our vision of creating a world free of MS. Tens of thousands of Canadians come together in their communities every May to participate, fundraise and volunteer in MS Walk to help find the cause and cure for this disease. These events would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers given their time.
There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience while they are walking to raise critical funds to support those effected by MS.
Event Set Up:
Unloading supplies and equipment
Helping set up tents, tables, chairs, banner & signs
Participant Check In Lead:
Oversee participant check-in area
Participant Check in:
Managing check in line ups and directing participants
Provide event info to participants and answer any questions
Making a donation ask to participants who have not yet donated
Checkpoint:
Help load/unload event vehicles with supplies
Set up and clean up checkpoint area
Greet and cheer on participants
Route Marshal:
Help set up directional signage along route
Alert participants at heavy traffic areas, hazards or changes on the route
If needed, alert traffic that participants are crossing intersections. Route marshal should not attempt to stop oncoming traffic
Cheer on participants
Food & Beverage:
Set up food, beverage and supplies, restocking and cleaning away litter
Help to clean up after event
Start/Finish Line Cheer Squad:
Cheer participants as they head out on the route and as they return
Volunteer Check In:
When volunteers arrive, check off name on volunteer attendance list
Ensure volunteers have completed a volunteer information form
Direct volunteers to their designated area

A one (1) year commitment is asked for as a minimum
Current Event Committee opportunities include: Golf Tournaments, Galas, Awards Ceremonies, Seasonal events, and other special events
Specific Job Duties:
· Attend Committee meetings and actively participate.
· Accept assignments and tasks that ensure the committee's objectives are met.
· Gather/share information about potential donors, guests, sponsors, and build the list through personal and professional networks.
· Assess current attendee and sponsor lists and identify gaps in various networks.
· Create an ongoing list of attendee and sponsor prospects that fit the previously identified gaps.
· Support the organization to achieve the fundraising goals by securing corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations for the silent/live auction.
· Invites individuals and prospects to attend.
· Attend events and help by welcoming and networking with guests.
· Additional duties may be requested by the Committee Chair.
You are expected to stay informed, ask questions, and participate in discussion, decision-making, and implementation of committee activities.
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is seeking leadership volunteers to help plan and execute Run for the Cure. When you become a committee member, you will be honouring the tens of thousands of women and men diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Canada and directly contributing to breast health awareness and breast cancer research.
Along with the other volunteer committee members, you will work collaboratively with CCS staff to ensure that the systems, national procedures and standards for the Run for the Cure are implemented and that the goals of the event are met.
